Mold Remediation Requests

Mold is a moisture problem before it is a cleaning problem. Describe what you are seeing or smelling and where, and we will route your request to a local provider qualified for the work involved.

You do not need to identify a species or know whether the growth is on the surface or behind it. Describe the location, the size of the area, any water history and whether anyone in the building is reporting symptoms.

  • Wall and ceiling mold

Why mold is so common on the Big Bend

Two things drive most of the mold problems in this region: sustained outdoor humidity and building assemblies that were not designed for it. Vented crawlspaces pull humid air under the floor. Oversized air conditioners cool a house quickly without running long enough to dehumidify. Attics with blocked soffit vents or leaking ductwork condense moisture on framing. Add a rain event or a slow supply line leak and growth follows.

This matters for scope. Cleaning visible growth without addressing the moisture source usually buys a few months. A useful remediation plan identifies where the water is coming from, corrects it, and then addresses affected materials.

Licensing and how requests are handled

In Florida, mold assessment and mold remediation are regulated activities with their own state licensing requirements, and there are restrictions on the same party assessing and remediating the same property. Tallahassee Remediation does not perform mold assessment, mold testing or mold remediation.

What we do is take the details of your situation and route the request to a local provider appropriate for the work described. If your situation appears to require a licensed mold professional, your request may be routed accordingly. The provider who contacts you is responsible for their own licensing, certifications and insurance.

What helps us route the request accurately

  • Roughly how large the affected area is — a shower corner is a different job than a whole wall.
  • Whether there was a leak, flood, roof problem or HVAC issue beforehand.
  • Whether the smell is strongest in a crawlspace, attic, closet or at floor level.
  • Whether the building is occupied, and whether anyone is reporting symptoms.
  • Photos of the visible growth and the surrounding materials.

Tallahassee Remediation does not perform mold assessment, mold testing or mold remediation, and does not represent itself as a licensed mold assessor or mold remediator. Requests that require a licensed mold professional are routed to appropriately qualified providers.
